Samsung Electronics has said that it has developed an advanced display driver IC that provides high-quality resolution for high-end 8K TVs. The world's largest chip maker said the new display driver ICs have "industry-leading" internal data transfer speeds of up to 4Gbps. The company said higher data transfer capabilities will improve display performance and will be used on ultra-thin TVs of 65 inches and larger.


What is the driver IC?
LED is a light-emitting diode. When the number of diodes is large or the tube consumes a large amount of power, it needs to be driven. It is also a few-stage drive. These stages are driven into an integrated electronic chip. This chip is called a driver IC. Simply put, it is to play the role of providing compensation current to the diode.
LED driver IC works
The chip contains a constant current generating circuit, and the output constant current value can be set through an external resistor. The enable time of the output channel can control the switching time of the output channel up to a megahertz (1MHz). The current output response is extremely fast, supporting applications with high gradation changes and high picture refresh rates. Built-in open circuit detection, thermal shutdown, and overcurrent protection make the reliability of the application system greatly improved.
At present, the pulsed driving chip supplies power to the LED lamp with a high frequency pulse generator output interface. Because the frequency of the pulse signal is very high, the human eye can't feel the strobe of the LED at all, so this method meets the visual needs and effectively saves the power output on the one hand. Moreover, the operating frequency of this type of chip is generally controlled by an external interface.
The adjustment method of the current value of the driving chip is mainly to change the brightness of the current value adjustment, where the luminosity is assumed to be 1 time, the luminosity of the white light and the luminosity when the current changes are 1.7 times, and the luminosity at this time becomes 3 times, although The illuminance and current values are not proportional, but the red light is proportional. The main reason is that the physical properties of the red, green and blue wafers are different from each other.
